Chapter 5 Reflection
Chapter five is a chapter that describes Dr. Paul Farmers childhood and his school years. The part that caught my eye in this chapter is on page 50, which says "Ginny would remark years later that she wished she had stood up to her husband and defied more often...' You didn't argue with Paul Farmer, you just didn't' ". This stood out to me because this tradition of listening to the husband is different in the 1950's than our time because I think women in our time are more independent than the women of the 1950's. This shows me how different things were back then. After reading this part, I wondered what else was different. Another thing I saw was different was the lifestyle, for example, to discipline a child you can spank them, in contrast to our time where thats illegal.
