Do you agree with Kidder's assumption?
Throughout the book "Mountains Beyond Mountains" Kidder describes some of the assumptions he made based on Farmer's work regarding helping other people, in this case Haitian people. According to Kidder the only way we can help is by making great sacrifices such as Farmer, as we know he is doing things for free, he gets no reward or payment, he is far from his family, he gives his own money to them, in conclusion he has no personal life because he prefers to help people. However, I personally disagree with Kidder's point of view that we need to make huge sacrifices in our lifes in order to make changes, I rather think that persuading other people to help and putting some of their part can make more changes than just one person giving his whole life because he is affecting other people like his family and not everyone is aware of what he is doing and one single man cannot change a whole country but a group of people can make a difference.
