If it wasn't apparent already in the previous chapters, in chapter three it is obvious that Dr. Farmer is a man who makes daily sacrifices for the sake of his patients. While it is mentioned in this chapter how Dr. Farmer makes $125,000 yearly he sees none of this sum of money as he dedicates it towards Zanmi Lasante, his Hatian hospital. Dr. Farmer has demonstrated so far, that he is someone who has a positive outlook. Even though money is a big deal when treating the Haitian poor, Dr. Farmer shows no stress stating assuredly:
"They'll find the money, he's told me. "Of course we'll find the money."
Usually an author will title his book based off what they mention in the book itself. The title is finally shown on page 36:
"Beyond mountains there are mountains"
I myself had never heard of this proverb until I read this biographical narrative. So I guess I'll just share the meaning of this Haitian proverb with everyone:
"Sometimes it’s used to express the idea that opportunities are inexhaustible, and sometimes as a way of saying that when you surmount one great obstacle you merely gain a clear view of the next one." (The words of Tracey Kidder)
