A Rhetorical Device

Hyperbole: exaggeration for the purpose of emphasis. It's function is to provoke a response, to cast something in a strong light.

EXAMPLE'S: 

1. I'm so hungry i could eat a cow
2. I nearly died laughing from that joke
3. My teacher gave me papers a mile high
