Response to the Assumption
The assumption "A person who wants to help actually makes sacrifices" relates to Paul Farmer because he literally gave up his life to help the people suffering from diseases and poverty in Haiti. For example on page 23 chapter 3, Farmers wife says "Honey, you are the hardest workin' broke man I know." This shows how much he cares about the people in Haiti and that he sacrificed his life and money to them. The most interesting thing I've read in the book so far was that how much he gave up his life to help others and the fact that he's doing it all by himself.
