Chapter 4 Reflection
In chapter four of Mountains Beyond Mountains Dr. Farmer visits a non-complaint patient living three hours away from Zanmi Lasante because he hadn't shown up for a monthly checkup. He traveled three hours just to check on one of his TB patients. This shows how dedicated , caring, and determined Dr. Farmer is to make a difference. Kidder describes how he had to go through many obstacles to find the patient and how Farmer was physically fit and content through the whole trip which means he has done this before. After Farmer finally meets up and chats with his patient the whole problem ended up being a misunderstanding. On the way back Farmer is still smiling with no complaints of another long journey back. This situation explains how Farmer is happy as long as he knows every patient will be doing fine. Farmer sacrifices long journeys just to see how the condition is of his patient.
