Do I Agree With Kidder's Assumptions?

Today during class we read chapter four together, and found out an assumption that Kidder made, which was directed towards the ideal view of Farmer towards those who really help and don't help at all. Restating the assumption, Kidder says, " that the only way people really do help is by making a sacrifice." For many different reasons I do believe that to really help someone making sacrifices in your daily routine is needed. To really help someone to the possible extent, requires you to put your effort into it, and if you have distractions such as watching T.V. or going on Facebook, then you have to make those sacrifices by stopping it for a while so that you may help those in need.
Some people may say that giving money is a way of helping people out without actually physically helping those people in need. Yes, it is a good way of providing help to those in need, but to really help the person you have to understand the struggles they go through. By making a sacrifice in going through the persons lifestyle you are able to realize what you are capable of doing for that person and to help find a better way of helping him or her out. Also it just doesn't help out the person but you are benefiting from it as well, because you get to learn through the whole process.
