Agree or disagree with Tracy Kidder's Assumption?

I know that people make mistakes, and that we are all not perfect, but I know that we all have the power to actually do something positive for this earth. I completely agree with Tracy Kidder's assumption that in order to actually help with the world's problems we have to make sacrifices of our own. Many people just think that just by being in your house watching commercials about world hunger, and sending 40 cents will actually solve the problem. We as humans must contribute, and make sacrifices for the world in order to make a difference. If someone is hurt our natural reaction is to try to find out whats wrong, and to actually make an effort to help. This is exactly what we all have to do in order for us to make a big difference.
