I agree with Tracey Kidder's assumption

At least for me, I can't imagine any help sincere without having some sort of sacrifice involved. Even in a small issue I want to be assured that my family and friends will be there for me and sacrifice their time in order to help appease my problems. In that sense, I agree with Kidder's assumption regarding help. Haiti, amidst it's devastation needs more than pity for it to be able to awaken from it's economic and health crisis. These "white liberals" the author refers to, are no doubt capable of doing something as large as if not more than what Dr. Farmer is capable of doing. The problem is, that they fail to see that making some sort of sacrifice be it money or involvement in the restoration of Haiti is a necessity. It needs to be done, it just goes to make these liberals bad people who have the capabilities of being able to help but don't wanna do a 'darned' thing.
