In chapter four talks of the peoples belief in black magic which stops them from getting treatment and not accepting the fact that medicine and real doctors cured them. Farmer does some research by interviewing some of his clients, he then discovers he should dwell on peoples personal beliefs because vodoo is not affecting their health but the lack of food and money, a state of hoplessness is what was killing the people. One quote that had me thinking of the books title was "Scrims of rain and lcouds and swaths os sunlight swept across the yellow mountains in front of us and the yellow mountains beyond those mountains and over the Lac de Peligre" it depicted the mountains and gave a symbolic tone which eventually ends the chapter with reflection of the mountains in Haiti.

Reflection on Chapters 3 & 4 Amani Albahri
Chapter three is mainly about the people and their symptoms, Tracy Kidder uses intense and vivid imagery to protray how much agony and misery these people are in. One quote that touched me was Dr. farmer confesses "i cant slepp, There's always somebody not getting treatment. I can't stand it" a man that is willing to sacrifice his sleep for someone is a man with a heart of gold. Not only that but it would be illogical to stay up all night to treat and see people when there is always poverty and illness all over this world and it will never go away, its contineous but to him its his duty in life something he lives by day and night. Another quote that gives a reflection of chapter 3 is when Dr. Farmer is giving a spinal tap to a young Haitian girl, he translates her and explains "She's crying. 'It hurts, I'm hungry.' Can you believe it? Only in Haiti would a child cry out that she's hungry during a spinal tap." This one sentence perfectly illustrates the condition of the people and the hardship they endure everyday.
